This morning, Hannah Banana's desire to hang with me superseded her fear of the vacuum cleaner. Where I walked, she followed and patiently waited for me as I attempted to remove all evidence of boy-dirt and shedding dogs.
Has your belief in the goodness of God superseded your fear of facing something painful? If it has, you're on a great path! Like Hannah, you're willingness to follow does not go unseen. And God is pleased with your willingness to remain by His side at all costs.
Tell God how you feel today. As you open your heart you'll see more and more evidence of His goodness. Give your belief in that goodness time to grow, and then experience firsthand, how perfect Love cast out fear.
It was important for me to let Hannah know I was pleased that she longed for my company in the midst of something scary in her world. Consider how much more God wants you to know how pleased He is with your willingness to seek freedom from what causes pain and fear in your world.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. (Psalm 139:23)
What do you face that freaks you out? If you feel anxious, but can't put your finger on why, ask God to reveal the cause. If you know the cause, but can't seem to find a still point in your soul, consider trying what I do when I get like this:
I lie down on my back in a quiet place. Take slow, deep breathes, and meditate on the name Jesus. Seriously, when I do this, I'm always centered because I'm reminded so gently that He is my center.
You are not alone,
